The Most Intelligent Thing Madonna Has Ever Said

I awoke one morning to the usual radio station banter that I hear every morning. The alarm clock is set to some local radio station and usually causes me to have those weird dreams one has when drifting between sleep and consciousness. This particular morning they had Madonna on the phone for an interview and asked her why she turned to Kabbalah as a religion. She answered that she had reached the top, was wealthy and famous, and found that there was no happiness there. Things, wealth, and fame do not make one happy. Though I don't need a religion to know these things I heartily agree with her.

I was thinking about this interview today because of the recent disaster in New Orleans. It really bothers me that people are devastated and have lost everything and there are assholes out there looting. Now don't get me wrong, I think it is unfair of the media to consider taking food and water looting. But come on, so you have been poor your whole life, do you really need to float that big screen down the street? Will that somehow make your life better? Fucking look around and help your fellow man. Go loot an inflatable raft and help get people off their rooftops...where are you going to plug that T.V. into anyway? The human race is sick.

I am planning to donate money to Red Cross and an animal rescue organization this Friday when I get paid. I suggest everyone else do this too, even if it is only $20.

And may I just comment on what a sad loss to the music world we have had. Many, many a great music and music influence has come from that area of the world which is now gone.

Feeling like ass

This last UTI has set me into motion and I have become proactive in trying to prevent yet another. I went home early again today because the antibiotics (Macroid) they have me on makes me feel so awful. Almost every possible side effect has hit me. Loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, headache, etc. I have been searching the internet trying to see what preventive measures I can take to stop this ugly cycle. Apparently, a low pH level in my urine will help inhibit bacterial growth. So, I have been looking into foods that lower the pH. I was shocked to find out that citrus fruits are actually supposed to be avoided because they make urine alkaline. I dunno, it could be hippy logic...there is plenty of that on the internet as well. Everyone says drink cranberry juice but how many of you have ever drank the real stuff? Not the cocktail...the 100% juice. It's like undergoing some sort of dormitory hazing ritual. Blueberries are supposed to have similar properties and so I picked up some blueberry juice as well. I plan on mixing them and diluting with sparkling water. That's the only way I can fathom imbibing cranberry juice every day. I also picked up some cranberry capsules at Whole Foods and hopefully that will substitute for the days in which I am unable to drink the juice.

On a happier note my bicycle is finally tuned up and ready to ride. I actually miss the days when my sole method of transportation was my bike. Any weather condition there was I would ride in. Tomorrow is my last day of antibiotics and so I probably will feel like ass tomorrow too but on Sunday for sure I am taking my baby out for a ride. I also reserved an hour long massage at the gym on Sunday as well so things are looking up for this weekend.

The Sweet Smell of Urine

A year ago I would have said "gross!" to the above title but these days it's a different story. For the past year I have had recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and the only way I have detected them is through a strong smokey smell when I pee. I don't have pain or blood or anything else, just that weird organic smell. So after a course of antibiotics I rejoice when my urine smells like...well, urine. Because I have had UTIs so frequently, I dread going to the bathroom now. Chances are that I will have to run down to the lab and give a sample and be put on more antibiotics.

I finally went to a urologist but all he did was give me sulfa drugs which I am supposed to take when I have sex. Well, it didn't work. He also said if I kept having UTIs that he would stick a catheter in me and dilate my urinary tract. Well, this is probably what will need to happen but I don't like his trial and error method. How about an ultrasound first to see if my urinary tract is impeded? So, now I am trying to go to a Stanford urologist who specializes in female anatomy and hope to get some answers.

This whole thing has been a nightmare. I am distressed because I want to have children in a few years. I would have to be on antibiotics the entire pregnancy. All I want is to be healthy.
